The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park was previously a Polo for the White before the independence of Ghana. Black people were not allowed in that place.
The place where Dr. Kwame NKrumah proclamed the independence is where his statue, in front of the mausoleum, is located.
The local name of the horns int the statues mouth are called "Abentia". It is usually made antelope's horns or elephant's ivory.
The drum with the statue is called "Atumpa". It is from the Ashantis' region.
The funny looking guitar is called "Banjo". It is from the northern part of Ghana.
The mausoleum looks like the trunk of a tree. After farming, farmers used to sit under the tree to rest. After Dr. Kwame NKrumah's hard work, he needed to rest under the tree. So the shape of the mausoleum represents his unfinished work. The black star on the mausoleum represents the hope of Africa.
